Rudraksha, meaning "the eye of Rudra (Shiva)," is among the most sacred natural objects in Hinduism and Buddhism. These seeds from the Elaeocarpus ganitrus tree have been revered for millennia for their spiritual and healing properties.
Rudraksha beads are classified by the number of "mukhis" or faces ??? natural lines running from top to bottom. Each mukhi corresponds to a different deity and planetary influence:
Genuine Rudraksha sinks in water, has natural holes, and shows well-defined mukhis under magnification. Beware of artificial beads made from wood or plastic. Always purchase from trusted sources with certification.
Rudraksha should be energized with proper mantras before wearing. Keep them clean, oil them regularly with almond or olive oil, and remove before bathing with chemical soaps.
